Hector's Quick Tip - Go

When mixing your aquarium fish types always consider these few points.

1. Bigger fish will sometimes eat smaller fish.

2. Some fish will need small schools (6–10), as this is their natural behaviour.

3. Some fish do best in singles, or sometimes pairs.

4. Talk with your aquatic store to have a suitable mix in your tank size.

Coldwater fish - Goldfish

Goldfish

The favourite of the fish world, gold fish are hardy and low maintenance fish. All types will live together quite well, although you will occasionally have a bossy fish, keep an eye on this and if needed talk to the store about taking the fish back.

DO NOT OVERFEED!

DO NOT OVERFEED!

Small goldfish will happily eat flakes and as they get a little larger swap to a granule to save on some mess created at feed time. Goldfish will eat and eat and eat, so be cautious not to feed to much as this will lead to cloudy water and more work for yourself in cleaning the tank.

How Large will Goldfish grow!

How Large will Goldfish grow!

In general your goldfish will grow over 10cm, this means that a fish bowl will soon become quite small for a larger fish. When considering whether you'd like to keep fish, please ensure the well-being of your pet and the potential life span.

Did you know that Goldfish can live well over 10 years, in fact the Japanese Koi has been known to live well over 50 years. That's certainly a long time to live in a fish bowl, not that they likely will.
